christmas card

Ok so I don't do christmas cards. If you ask me they are a waste of money. Especially since the usps has again raised their rates. I don't need hallmark to write Merry Christmas on paper for me and make it all sparkly. I can type it all by myself. Right now I am at the school listening to a choral concert all the music made me think "oh I should update my blog while I am sitting here and send out my Christmas update for the 2 people who read this blog. This year has been a fast one full of many things, not many worth listing. I did move this year to american fork. This has been a big change cuase I was raised and spent most of my life in orem. ...... ya well the concert got over and I had to work so I didn't get this finished now it is a few days later and christmas eve. I had better post this now so I don't miss it all together. Merry Christmas

I am trying this from my cell phone so I don't know how well it will work. I haven't posted forever as you can tell. I have been really busy with the end of school and summer work and construction on my building. I am also looking for a house. Needless to say I don't have a lot of free time. Oh did I mention I have been coaching baseball as well? Anyway I am sitting in line for the midnight showing of thew new Harry Potter movie and waiting for some friends to meet me, so I thought I would try it out. Anyway that is my life right now. So till later if this works.

Back to Missouri

Well this weekend I drove back out to Missouri. It was a good drive except from Lincoln Neb. down to about 30 miles outside of Kansas City. That was really slow and go. Roads were really slick and there was alot of cars slid off the side of the road.
It is really good to see the family. Jack and Gabbi have been sick as well. Jack is still having tummy probems. He is having trouble getting comfortable and letting us know what he wants. The weather here is niceish. The sun is out but it is still cold. The snow is melting. Today for dinner we are going to try my slow cooked bbq ribs. We will see how they turn out. I guess that is all for the update for now.

Well I survived for the most part. I only worked 3 12+ days and saved 2 for this next week. This last week has been kind of nice. The weather has been decent till this weekend when it rained and the wind blew all weekend. It could be worse at least it hasn't snowed. That will come this next week and make this week worse. I HATE THE WINTER!
Anyway, now that, that is out of my system, I can... I HATE THE WINTER!! OK let's try this again.

Well this will be 2 of 4 12+ hour days this week. Today will be 14, tomorrow should be about 15. Monday was 12 Saturday will be around 12. (I only get paid for 8) The joys of being in a salaried management position. Today and tomorrow are Parent Teacher Conferences. I am just waiting for the last few appointments to finish up so I can lock up go home, try to quickly fall asleep so I get enough sleep to do it all over again. Construction is finally looking like it is actually progressing at a snails pace instead of slower.
We had construction meeting today and we are ONLY 2 months behind. I just hope it is all done and everything can be moved over before school starts next year. -just a side note, can I just say that I enjoy construction meeting. The people (engineer, contractor, district people, general, etc) are such great people. They are very helpful and so great to work with us. It is nice that they are willing to let me (so completely stupid when it come to all the things they talk about) join them AND answer my questions when it should be completely obvious what a nksdfjiasdhwef;j is for and what it is all about and where it goes.
Anyway there is the quick update. Now to wander around till the parents all leave.

Sunday afternoon

Good afternoon all, if there are really anyone that reads this. Today is Sunday afternoon and I am waiting for football playoffs to start so i thought that I would update my blog. Work this morning was usual nothing special. I have been watching JAG and playing with Nikki , my little girl. Here are some pix.

Well here I am waiting for a Turkey to cook. I got it for the holidays and never got it cooked. Now I am cooking it for Sunday dinner and I don't think that it is going to be done in time. Sorry guys. Nikki just climbed on the back of my chair and she is looking over my shoulder at the blog. Hopefully she approves, the camera does at a couple pounds. She is getting good at her tricks. She will wave with one wing, say hello, and give kisses. She does other things as well but not on cue. We will keep working on the other things. Well have a good Week or 4 until my next update.

It's almost Christmas

Well today was looking a lot like Christmas. We had 12" of snow today, the roads were slick and still everybody was out at the stores. CRAZY! yes that includes me. I had to go and buy stuff for our family Gingerbread house decorating project. So now that it is the evening I am watching season 4 of Mchale's Navy and Blogging. Not much else to do with the stores packed, birds wanting attention, work in the morning, and snow still falling. Here are some pix....

OK so the computer wasn't working so well so I had to shut it down before I threw it out. So I am now getting back to it.

Merry Christmas. It is Christmas evening and it has been great today. It has been so much fun to spend the time with family between working. The snow still hasn't stopped. It is heavy and wet and deep. Christmas eve we got together and made Gingerbread houses. Here are some of the pictures of what we put together.

Well as you can see from my last post I was a bit bored. That is the way it is when you are sick. Now that I am finally feeling a bit better, I thought I would add another member to the family. I was able to find a beautiful little girl online to adopt and bring into the family. She is about 10 years old and stand about 3 feet tall. She has beautiful coloring and peircing eyes. Her name is Nikki. Scroll down for some pictures of my beautiful new girl.

This is Nikki by Blue and Gold Macaw.

For those of you who don't know my other beautiful girl this is Bandit. She is a Jenday Conure.

Well today is Saturday. I just watched an exciting game of LSU and Alabama. I have been sitting in bed for the last few days because I work in a germ factory. (school) I have had the flu and I am so bored and restless. I don't feel like doing much but here I am sitting in front of the tv waiting for the Oklahoma and Texas Tech game. That one should be a great one. My team Utah Utes won their game against TCU on Thursday. I wasn't able to see any of the game but I kept up on the first half on my phone. My dad called and let me know what happened.

Halloween was fun. The kids were so cute. Here is a couple pix.

So it has again been a while since my last update. Ya I know I have no life but i still can't find the time to sit down and update. So here is the last month.
Me-
Things for me haven't changed much. I work and....well....that is about it. I don't want to do much else. I enjoy work.
Family-
It has been a great month for family. My parents are doing well and are a great influence and example in my life.
My nephew turned 8 this last month and was baptised. It was a good experience even though I had to give a talk.
Jana and Chris came into town from Missouri to visit and I was able to spend some time with them and my neice and nephew.
Ashley and Jared finally told us that they were expecting (5 months along already) They are going to have their second boy. Congrats to them.
Grandma and grandpa Mock came it to town as they were passing through and I was able to see them and have lunch with them. It was good to see them. It has been a while.
I was able to spend some time with nanny and reed for grandpa's brother's funeral. I was also able to help them in the yard one afternoon.
It is always great to spend time with family.
Freetime- I was able to vote today during early voting. That is about all the free time I have.
Work- Boy do I have alot to say about this one. The elementary is crazy right now.
I love my job, the people I work with, and the students. But some of the parents, some of the police force, and some of the city workers are CRAZY! One doesn't talk to the other even on joint projects. The city is telling us one thing to do, the fire marshal is telling us another, the police are ticketing every one they can (gotta meet the quota somehow) the parents are complaining about everything and we are trying to make it through this mess without losing any students in the process. Construction is progressing but still behind. I can at least see the walls going up now. The kitchen remodel is way behind and not progressing much mostly because the plumbers are being a pain in the plumbers crack. They just need to get off their crack and get moving.
The kids are great. They make me smile every day and make it fun to go to work. It is never the same and never gets boring. This week was red ribbon week. Yesterday was red day for anti drugs and violence. I of course dressed up in all red. Long red sox, red shorts, red shirt and red hat. The red clothing that I had all happened to have a white and black U on them. Most of the students prefer clothing that have a blue Y on it. It is a fun rivelry here in Utah. As I was walking around at lunch a whole table started chanting Utah sucks, utah sucks over and over again. I just had to smile and walk away.
I have a group of first grade students who have renamed me "Buddy" they are so cute. When ever they see me that start screaming buddy and running over to me. It just makes my day. You know I always planned on going back to the Jr. High when the head there retires, but I don't know. I love being at the elementary as well. It will be a really hard decision when the time comes.
Tomorrow is Halloween. I will be dressing up in my kilt and scotish wear.
Well I guess that is about it for me and my life for the last month. Sorry there is no pictures this time. Blogs without pictures are usually boring, but hey that is how thing go for me.

So I guess my blog doesn't update itself. I have to actually go in and add my pictures and thoughts by hand. YA LIKE I HAVE TIME FOR THAT. Oh well. Today is a Sunday and I am over at my parents for Sunday dinner. Everyone went for a walk. I am a bit too stiff for that. Yesterday I played 3 on 3 football for 2 hours and then hiked up to Stuart falls and back. The hike is about 4 miles round trip. Needless to say my body doesn't like me right now. It is causing pain to course through by body with every movement I make. I had a good time and the only real injury is losing my big toe nail.

Well it is the first week of school and with all the new construction around and the mess throughout the city with their new upgrades it has been crazy. Things are going as well as can be expected though. Any way since I am not the blogging type yet I'll keep this short and sweet so I can go and watch the Olympics.

Hike to Clyde lake

On Saturday the ninth some friends and I hiked to Clyde lake up in the Uintah Mountains. We started the hike at Washington Lake (near Trial lake) and hiked up the crystal lake trail head to Clyde lake. It was a beautiful hike through amazing country.

Then it started to turn ugly....the weather not the countryside.

But we kept fishing

Then it got worse and we hiked out. It REALLY came down the whole hike back.
Not only was it raining but it was also hailing. So much that it was accumulating on the ground.All in all it was really fun. I have spent alot of time in this area and love it. Next time I will be a bit more prepared though.

Family get together

Yesterday Aug 2nd was a family get together/reunion. We met at Barbara and Keith's place (thanks for having us over) We were able to have about 2/3rds of the family there. It was a ton of fun. Here are some pix of the fam.

Zoo

One of the days while I was in Missouri we went to the zoo on Kansas City. It was a nice place. It was so big we didn't have time to see it all. Oh ya and it was HOT and HUMID. Here are some of the pics from the zoo trip.

The birds were a lot of fun. You could go into the cage and feed them. They were very friendly and would just fly over to you and land on your shoulder or head or hand and just eat, or sit and make kissing noises, or whistle. I had one sit on the back of my neck and preen the back of my neck.

The Petting part of the zoo had a herd of sheep in it. You could spent a quarter and purchase some food to feed them. Before we had a chance to do that a sheep came over to the stroller and started eating the teddy grahams out of the stroller cup holder. They definately weren't shy about eating and searching everything you had for food. They would croud right around you when you had food.

Gabby would go over and scream at the sheep and then giggle. They didn't seem to mind they just followed her around.

Did I mention that it was HOT and HUMID. Everyone wanted to just sleep and stay cool.

I feel a song coming on.... "it's the eye of a tiger..."

We all seemed to have a good time. There is a lot to see and do. You could spend a couple days there and not take it all in. I can't wait to go again.

road trip

I just returned from my sister and brother in law's place in Missouri. It was a fun trip though way to short. We (my parents and I) left last Saturday and returned yesterday (sat). What a drive. We took I-80 out there and I-70 back. The first and last parts of the trip were nice but the middle is BORING. Sorry Nebraska and Kansas. They are so flat you can see the curvature of the earth on BOTH sides.

I guess that is not the best picture to prove my point, but it was the only one I took on the drive. Missouri was interesting, they have fireflies and animals that I have never seen before. Here are some pix.

Sunday after the 4th

Well it is the Sunday after the 4th of July and I am over at my parents house for dinner. Got to love free dinner even if it always more than an hour later than it is planned. That is OK I still love it. The food is good, in fact usually great. My dad watches a lot of cooking shows and they pay off. Yesterday we went to Payson lakes for a family get together. We rode in the canoe, fished, I snorkeled and searched for "treasures" on the bottom. I can't believe what I found. Other than a bunch of garbage I found a set of top dentures, a full set. An old oar, golf balls, snorkel mask and a TON of old cans. My mom now thinks there is some conspiracy about the dentures belonging to a dead person at the bottom of the lake. I guess they won't be able to use dental records to find out who they are. Sorry CSI you will have to use some other method, if you find the person. Luckily my search didn't show anything.

Any way here are some pictures of the the boys fishing on the trip.

The night before was the fourth of July. We went to the Stadium of fire, sort of. We sat on the grass outside of the stadium to watch the fireworks. There was most of the fam damily there. Here are some of the pictures of the family waiting for the fireworks.

Last day at old job

Well today is the last day I will be at my old job. After 6 years it has been a fun learning experience. I will be moving on to a new school beginning on Monday. It will be challenge, but I feel that I am up for it. We will see. I have really enjoyed working at the jr. high. I have made many friends, both staff and students. It is hard to leave, but it was time advance my career.

Earlier this week I rode my scooter over the Alpine Loop. It was nice and relaxing. I needed a break. Here are a few pictures.

I don't know why people make such a big deal about birthdays. It is just another day. Ya I am now older, but is that really something to celebrate. When you get to be as old as I am it doesn't make any difference. Some people like to make it much more than it needs to be. Anyway there is my moan for the day.
Today has been a good day. I worked at the Jr. High, didn't make it to my new school. Then I went to the Photo place and had a picture enlarged, then went to mom and dads while they were out of town and bbq'd some of their nice steaks and potatoes. No pix today i'm not on my computer.
I am now eating and watching "Hells Kitchen" I wish my food tasted as good as it looks on the show.
Do you think mom and dad will be surprised when they get home to a sink full of dirty dishes?
Guess that's it.
